Terms and Conditions

1. General

  1. Services will be undertaken in all weather conditions. Clara’s Canines will make a decision in exceptional circumstances and may cancel services if it is deemed to be dangerous to proceed.

  2. An initial assessment/ meet and greet will take place with all dogs prior to using Clara’s Canines services. Clara’s Canines reserves the right to refuse to provide services for any dog where it is deemed in their absolute discretion that the service is not suitable for that dog. 

  3. No bookings will be confirmed until an assessment has been carried out, a “Registration Form” has been completed and the Client has agreed to the terms and conditions.

  4. It is the responsibility of the Client to notify Clara’s Canines of any relevant behavioural issues before booking services. 

  5. It is the responsibility of the Client to ensure the attending dogs have up-to-date vaccinations or titre test. 

  6. Clara’s Canines will not provide services to dogs with any form of contagious, infectious or otherwise communicable disease. The Client agrees to take any necessary precautions or measures to ensure that their dog is continuously free from such diseases. The Client further agrees to notify Clara’s Canines immediately of any contagious, infectious or otherwise communicable disease or conditions that their dog has been exposed to or is affected by. Such diseases and conditions include, but are not limited to: Distemper, Hepatitis, Kennel Cough (Bordetella), Parvovirus, worms, Lyme disease, fleas, pregnancy, infectious skin diseases and intestinal parasites. Clara’s Canines reserves the right to refuse to provide Services until satisfied that the condition is resolved.

  7. If the contagious, infections or otherwise communicable disease or condition is not apparent until after a residential training stay has started, the Client agrees to collect or arrange for their dog to be collected immediately. In the event of the dog having fleas, the Client may be additionally charged for household treatment and compensation for loss of earnings following an infestation. 

  8. The Client will inform Clara’s Canines if their bitch is in season or pregnant.​

2. Training 

  1. Participation in services is entirely at the risk of the participant. Neither Clara’s Canines, nor the owners or landlords of any venues, accept any responsibility for any injuries or losses sustained which are not covered by our insurance. 

  2. It is the responsibility of the Client to train with due care and attention to their own safety and that of others, to adhere to the instruction of the trainer and to be responsible for the conduct of their animal at all times. Clients remain responsible for their dogs, any additional attendees (including children) and belongings at all times and are advised to ensure they have adequate pet or household insurance cover for liability in the unlikely event of damage or injury caused by their dog to property or to a third party. 

  3. During training sessions dogs should be kept on a lead and a suitable and safe distance maintained between other participants and their dogs, unless specifically told otherwise.

  4. Block bookings are valid for 6 months. It is the responsibility of the Client to book all included services within that period, and any services not booked will be forfeited. 

 

3. Walking, Drop Ins, Residential Training Stays

  1. Clara’s Canines undertakes to perform the agreed upon services in an attentive, reliable and caring manner and the Client undertakes to provide all necessary information and equipment (lead, collar with tag and muzzle if required) to assist in this performance. 

  2. Clara’s Canines will ensure all reasonable care is taken to look after your dog, and whilst we will make every effort to ensure your pet is well looked after in your absence, Clara’s Canines cannot be held liable for any loss, injury or death to a pet either inside or outside of the home whilst in our care.

  3. The Client must provide Clara’s Canines with the name and contact number of someone who can be contacted in emergencies and who is capable and authorised to make decisions about their dog in the event of an emergency. If the contact is not available, the Client authorises Clara’s Canines to seek such veterinary advice and/or treatment and make decisions (on veterinary advice) that is in the best interests of the dog. Where possible this will be carried out by the Client’s usual/preferred vet, but this cannot be guaranteed (eg. in an emergency) and the Client accepts that Clara’s Canines may use any registered Vet.  The Client agrees to pay all such costs immediately on pick-up of their dog. Clara’s Canines will always endeavour to contact either the Client or Emergency Contact prior to independently seeking veterinary advice and/or treatment.

  4. The Client is responsible for the full cost of treatment of any injuries or illness that their dog and/or pet receives whilst under the care of Clara’s Canines, including any other associated costs e.g. call-out charges. Pet Insurance is always recommended for peace of mind.

  5. The Client agrees to provide keys or arrange access to dogs for the agreed service and appointment. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of that day’s service and will be paid for in full by the Client. Clara’s Canines will ensure that all keys provided are kept secure and will not be stored identifying address details. The Client should advise on the use of burglar alarms or any other security devices. The Client must ensure that other pets within the house that are not allowed outside (eg. cats) are kept away from access doors.

  6. Dogs will not be let off lead unless Clients have signed an off lead consent form. Off lead exercise will remain at the discretion of Clara’s Canines. 

  7. Clara’s Canines offer services where dogs may socialise with other dogs. The Client accepts the risks involved and understand that their dog may sustain injuries. All interactions will be carefully monitored to avoid injuries, but scratches, punctures, torn ligaments, or other injuries may occur despite the best supervision. 

  8. Clara’s Canines is likely to transport your dog(s) to and from suitable dog walking locations (up to approximately 30 mins) by vehicle and therefore your dog(s) should be able to travel in vehicles. Clara’s Canines will ensure the safe and secure transport of all dogs and will maintain appropriate insurance.  

  9. Clara’s Canines will apply their best personal judgement in the event of extreme weather conditions (such as extreme heat) to take necessary action to ensure the safety of both dogs and walker, which may include (but is not limited to) changing walk times, cutting walks short or providing an alternative drop in visit. In such circumstances Clara’s Canines will update the Client. In such circumstances the service fee will not be amended. 

  10. Dogs may get wet and muddy on walks. Clara’s Canines will make every effort to return a clean dog, but cannot guarantee this.

  11. Clara’s Canines will take necessary steps to ensure your home is safe and secure in your absence, however Clara’s Canines cannot be held responsible for any burglaries or accidents/damage caused by your dogs/pets.

  12. Clara’s Canines will follow instructions for administering medications as directed but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result.

  13. The Client agrees that Clara’s Canines is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged leads, collars, tags, clothing or any other item left with their dog.

4. Payments

  1. Payment is due prior to completion of each ad-hoc service. 

  2. In the case of monthly bookings, payment is to be made within 7 days of receipt of the invoice, or by the date specified on the invoice.  

  3. Failure to pay for a service may result in any future bookings being cancelled. 

  4. Pricing is subject to change at any time. Any changes will not affect services already booked or paid for. 

  5. Residential training stays require a 30% deposit in order to secure bookings. If the deposit is not received, the booking is not confirmed and the dates remain available for others to book. Full payment is due 7 days in advance of the start date. 

  6. Deposits are non-refundable. 

 

5. Cancellations and no-shows

  1. Clara’s Canines the right to cancel or reschedule any booked service.

  2. It is the Client’s responsibility to give advance warning if not able to attend a service for any reason. 48 hours notice must be given in order to cancel a booking.

  3. If less than 48 hours notice is given, or the Client fails to attend any booked service, a cancellation fee of 100% the total service fee applies (including any travel fee applied).  If the cancelled service is part of a block booking, that session is forfeited.

  4. For monthly bookings the Client must provide at least 14 days notice of their wish to cancel the booking.

  5. If the Client collects their dog before the confirmed end date of a residential training stay, no refund will be available for the remaining days. 

 

6. Media

  1. The Client consents to their dog being photographed, videotaped, and/or used in any media or advertising by Clara’s Canines. All such media remain the property of Clara’s Canines.
